National Development Forum Focuses on Strengthening Family Cohesion and Cultural Identity

Doha: HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi emphasized the importance of strengthening family and community cohesion, affirming that family stability is one of the key pillars of social development.

According to Qatar News Agency, Her Excellency noted that the Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) is reviewing relevant legislation to ensure alignment with national directions in support of the family unit. This includes the new Human Resources Law, which offers flexible options and leave benefits that aid working mothers in balancing family and professional responsibilities, along with incentives that promote marriage and stability.

She highlighted the family education curriculum introduced for secondary school students, which will be expanded to include all educational stages in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. Her Excellency underscored the significant developments at the Wifaq Family Consulting Center in its awareness, counseling, and premarital preparation programs.

HE the Minister stressed the importance of partnerships with civil society organizations and public-benefit private institutions to bolster social cohesion. She announced the launch of a financial support program for associations, providing them with premises to expand their activities and programs.

In a related development, Her Excellency revealed that the national platform for volunteer work will be launched at the beginning of next year, aiming to unify efforts and establish a comprehensive framework of policies, legislation, and standards governing volunteer work nationwide.

She also discussed MSDF's strategy for charitable and humanitarian work, focusing on directing charitable efforts toward local initiatives that benefit the Qatari community. Her Excellency commended the Regulatory Authority for Charitable Activities' (RACA) Sanady platform for its role in enhancing transparency and ensuring donations reach those in need.

On the topic of national identity and Qatari culture, Her Excellency stressed that identity is the foundation of all social programs and policies, with the family as the primary environment for imparting religious, moral, and cultural values to children.

She expressed concern over challenges faced by the Arabic language, emphasizing its role not only as a communication tool but also as a cultural vessel and identity structure, requiring collaboration among government bodies, private institutions, civil society organizations, and families.

Her Excellency also reviewed efforts in raising awareness of early childhood development, noting that a parental education center will be launched early next year to support parents with appropriate parenting skills. She cited the "Tansheeh" program as a successful preventive initiative for youth, in collaboration with various ministries and monitored by the Doha International Family Institute.

Furthermore, Her Excellency affirmed the Ministry's support for traditional crafts and industries by providing marketing platforms for productive families, contributing to sustainable income and preserving tangible heritage.

In conclusion, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi reiterated that social development is a fundamental pillar of the state's progress. She emphasized that achieving qualitative and sustainable advancement requires strong partnerships and cooperation among various sectors to build a cohesive, empowered society that upholds its identity and values, in line with Qatar National Vision 2030.
