Doha: The National Archives of Qatar is set to launch its first strategy 2025-2030, in an official ceremony, on Thursday. The move is a significant step to advance the documentation system and ensure the enduring legacy of the State of Qatar and the region.
According to Qatar News Agency, NAQ highlighted that the strategy comes under the motto of the future memory, representing a road map toward preserving documents, enhancing transparency, supporting sustainable development, and maintaining the Qatari identity. The program launch ceremony will feature the foremost highlights of this strategy, with a particular emphasis on the importance of collaboration among community members and concerned parties to ensure an enduring preservation of the national memory and make it an effective tool in support of scientific research and decision-making processes.
Secretary-General of NAQ, Dr. Ahmed Abdullah Al Buainain, noted that launching the new strategy is a landmark for the NAQ and a strategic step toward building an integrated system that safeguards documents and ensures its sustainability for the generations to come, as a shared responsibility. He urged academics, concerned entities, owners of private libraries, and those interested in heritage, alongside all community members, to participate in this event and contribute to crafting the future of Qatar's history. He highlighted that the strategy intends to help the academic community and decision makers access national documents more easily.
Al Buainain emphasized that achieving this strategy requires close collaboration between public and private sectors to ensure building a state-of-the-art national system that epitomizes the spirit of engagement and collective responsibility. He affirmed that the strategy is a product of efforts that culminated in the NAQ inauguration in 2024. He highlighted that NAQ continues to establish an integrated national system that keeps pace with technological advancements, with a sharp focus on smart digitization and archiving to maintain documents and ensure accessibility to them.
