Doha: NASA has announced the successful launch of the Falcon 9 heavy rocket, carrying the Nova-C lunar lander, from Cape Canaveral Space Station in Florida on Thursday.
According to Qatar News Agency, the lunar lander will fly for ten days before landing on Mount Mutton, the highest on the surface of the moon. The Nova-C is developed by Intuitive Machines, a space exploration company, while the reusable Falcon 9 rocket relies on Merlin engines that run on kerosene and liquid oxygen.
NASA had previously planned to send a lunar rover to the same area, but the mission was canceled last year.
