Doha: The Ministry of Social Development and Family (MSDF) has launched a national digital platform designed to empower individuals with disabilities, as well as their families, caregivers, and service providers, by providing them with reliable access to tailored information and services.
According to Qatar News Agency, the launch event was attended by HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jaber Al Nuaimi, and included active participation from people with disabilities. This involvement underscores the importance of including the disabled community in projects that directly impact their lives.
The platform is part of MSDF's strategic initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to inclusivity and providing equal opportunities for all members of society. During her opening remarks, HE Minister Buthaina bint Ali Al Jaber Al Nuaimi emphasized that the platform aligns with Qatar's law for the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees access to technology and information, facilitating full societal participation without barriers.
Her Excellency further highlighted that the platform is not just a digital project but a national model grounded in human rights, prioritizing justice, inclusivity, and equal opportunities. It represents a crucial element in the MSDF's strategy to develop a modern social services system that meets societal aspirations.
Maha Al Mansouri, CEO of the Assistive Technology Center (Mada), noted that the platform is a strategic move towards creating an inclusive digital ecosystem that mirrors Qatar's dedication to universal accessibility, enhancing the independence and self-reliance of individuals with disabilities.
Developed by the Assistive Technology Center (Mada) to international digital accessibility standards, the platform ensures compatibility with assistive technology, promising a user-friendly experience. It incorporates assistive artificial intelligence technologies to boost user independence and improve the quality of digital services.
The project contributes to the implementation of the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and highlights the MSDF's commitment to empowering this community by facilitating access to essential services and opportunities. It serves as a practical tool in overcoming obstacles faced by people with disabilities, supporting their full societal inclusion and enhancing their quality of life.
