The Pan-African Parliament (PAP) will hold the second ordinary session of its sixth legislature, from May 15 to June 02, 2023 in its headquarters in Midrand, a suburb of Johannesburg, in the presence of several delegations, including that of Morocco.

The Moroccan delegation to take part in this Pan-African Parliamentary Forum is led by the Speaker of the House of Councillors, Enaam Mayara. It also includes Noureddine Salik of the Moroccan Labor Union, El Makhloul Hormatallah of the General Union of Workers of Morocco and Mohamed Amouri of the General Confederation of Enterprises of Morocco.

The Moroccan Parliament is also represented at these meetings by Laila Dahi of the National Rally of Independents (RNI), Khadija Arouhal of the Party of Progress and Socialism (PPS), Aydi Youssef of the Socialist Union of Popular Forces (USFP) and Hanaa Benkhair of the General Union of Workers of Morocco (UGTM).

The House of Councillors had stressed, in a statement, that the Moroccan participation is part of the membership of the House to this African institution to strengthen continental parliamentary cooperation and consolidate the means of coordination and consultation between members of African national parliaments, as well as highlighting the strategic vision of HM King Mohammed VI, affirming Morocco’s firm commitment to a united and cohesive Africa and to sustainable and integrated development at the continent.

More than 250 African parliamentarians are expected to meet on Midrand for this continental parliamentary forum, which is expected to examine ways to accelerate the implementation of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), in line with the African Union’s (AU) theme for 2023.
