Government

Rabat – Spain is determined to move forward on implementing the Moroccan-Spanish Roadmap, adopted in April 2022, President of the Spanish Government, Pedro Sánchez, said Wednesday in Rabat.

The adoption of this Roadmap has strengthened strategic partnership, Sanchez underlined during a press conference at the end of his working visit to the Kingdom, adding that bilateral relations are experiencing their ‘best moment’.

In this regard, he hailed the “extraordinary and positive” ties between Morocco and Spain, noting that they cover several areas, notably trade, tourism, security and migration.

Sánchez also said that his working visit to Morocco is part of a shared willingness to further strengthen bilateral relations which are ‘strategic for both countries’.

The President of the Spanish Government noted that the two parties continue the implementation of the projects adopted during the 2023 High-level Meeting, especially in the areas of education, cultural cooperation and social security which, he said, is
of great importance for Moroccans living in Spain.

Sánchez also underlined that his working visit to Morocco was an opportunity to discuss several regional and international issues.

Earlier in the day, HM King Mohammed VI received Pedro Sánchez, President of the Government of the Kingdom of Spain, at the Royal Palace in Rabat.

This visit follows on from the new stage in bilateral relations, initiated by the meeting between HM the King and the President of the Spanish Government in April 2022, and the adoption, on that occasion, of the Joint Declaration between the two countries.
