Stockholm: HE Undersecretary of the Ministry of Labor (MoL), Sheikha Najwa bint Abdulrahman Al-Thani, met Tuesday with senior officials from Sweden's labor sector during a visit aimed at enhancing bilateral cooperation and exchanging best practices in labor affairs. The meetings included discussions with HE Secretary-General of the Swedish Parliament, Ingvar Mattson; Their Excellencies members of the Parliament's Committee on the Labor Market; HE Director-General of the Swedish Work Environment Authority, Lars Loow; and HE Director-General of the Medlingsinstitutet, Irene Wennemo.
According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions focused on existing cooperation frameworks, strategies to improve the work environment, and ways to strengthen social protection systems for workers. Both sides explored mechanisms to deepen experience-sharing between Qatar and Sweden, especially in areas such as labor dispute resolution, occupational health and safety, and capacity building and training for labor sector professionals in Qatar.
In addition, HE Sheikha Najwa participated in a roundtable with Swedish trade union leaders, including Johan Lindholm, President of the Swedish Trade Union Confederation (LO); Goran Arrius, Chair of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Associations (SACO); and Victoria Kirchhoff, Vice President of the Swedish Confederation of Professional Employees (TCO).
The roundtable provided a platform to review ongoing cooperation between Qatar and Swedish trade unions and explore ways to further support and develop these ties. Both parties emphasized the importance of experience exchange in diverse labor fields to strengthen the bilateral partnership and expand future collaboration.
