Doha: The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), in cooperation with the General Authority of Customs, organized a workshop on building entrepreneurs’ capacity in the field of customs procedures and compliance management.
According to Qatar News Agency, a statement issued by MOCI today said that the workshop, which began Tuesday and concludes today, aimed to empower entrepreneurs as well as small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the State of Qatar and enhance their capabilities in the field of customs procedures and international standards for customs compliance.
Additionally, it aimed to raise awareness of the facilitation and compliance programs implemented by the General Authority of Customs. It also sought to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage customs clearance operations efficiently, in accordance with applicable laws and regulations.
The workshop addressed three main topics: defining the concept of authorized economic operators (AEOs), facilitation, compliance, and their international standards; reviewing the customs clearance procedures approved by the Authority; and ways to access accurate information through the Authority’s platforms. The workshop also addressed the features of the “Al Nadeeb” electronic customs clearance system and its comprehensive coverage of all customs procedures.
The Ministry emphasized that this workshop falls within the framework of its efforts, along with the General Authority of Customs, to raise awareness of and simplify customs procedures, thus contributing to creating an environment conducive to business growth, attracting investment, and enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of the national economy.
