The Ministry of Municipality is participating in the International Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Conference, which is organized by the Environmental Systems Research Institute (ESRI), in San Diego, California, USA, from July 10-14.
During the past two days of the conference, the Ministry, represented by the Center for Geographic Information Systems, presented a number of services and applications developed before and during the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, including high-resolution aerial images, digital topographic data, 3D models, the design of location maps for World Cup planning, follow-up system and coordination of the activities of the Ministry of Municipality during the event.
The Qatari participations also included a review of event sites, housing, training, kiosks, gardens, paths, and rainwater collection sites, with special services for the call center to receive requests and complaints, locate them according to coordinates and addresses, and determine the status of the request on the map.
During his keynote speech at the opening of the conference, ESRI President Jack Dangermond praised what has been achieved by the State of Qatar in the use of modern technologies for spatial and geographical data and its services in urban planning and decision-making assistance.
The GIS Conference is the largest international event organized annually for spatial and geographic information systems technologies and their applications in various fields, with a focus on modern technologies that contribute to the development process, economic capacity-building and sustainable development.
