Ministry of Labour Unveils Comprehensive Nationalization Plan for Private Sector.

Doha: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri emphasized the pivotal role of the private sector in Qatar's sustainable development during a discussion panel on job nationalization. The panel, titled "Nationalization of Jobs in the Private Sector for 2025-2026," was organized by the Ministry of Labour and attended by senior officials, CEOs, and HR directors from various private sector companies. According to Qatar News Agency, the event focused on fostering communication with private sector representatives to align nationalization objectives and integrate a skilled Qatari workforce. Dr. Al Marri highlighted efforts to enhance the labour sector's digital infrastructure, facilitating quicker transactions and improving the work environment. He emphasized the partnership between public and private sectors to overcome challenges and improve employment opportunities for citizens. Dr. Al Marri clarified that the nationalization law aims to attract a national workforce through a comprehensive programme off ering facilities and incentives. He assured that the law supports the private sector, helping companies benefit from national talent without imposing obstacles. The ministry plans to introduce incentive programmes, including contributions to retirement and social insurance, additional work permits, and awards for nationalization efforts. The Cabinet has approved the Qatar Nationalization Award for private sector excellence in nationalization. Dr. Al Marri announced collaborative training programmes for job seekers and students from higher education institutions. The nationalization law will be implemented in phases, allowing gradual engagement with the plan while addressing institutional challenges. A pilot phase, launched in July, involved 63 private sector entities to evaluate the nationalization plan's effectiveness. Sector-specific councils will coordinate initiatives to support nationalization, ensuring ongoing communication and strengthening partnerships between the Ministry of Labour and private sect or institutions. Chairman of the Qatar Chamber, HE Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, underscored nationalization's importance in securing employment for Qatari citizens and enhancing workforce sustainability. He praised the collaboration between the Ministry of Labour and Qatar Chamber, highlighting joint committees addressing private sector issues. The nationalization plan targets eight strategic sectors-manufacturing, logistics, tourism, IT, finance, education, agriculture, and healthcare. It follows a phased approach, starting with skills development and culminating in a long-term workforce transformation. Incentives for Qatari nationals and children of Qatari women include salary support, social allowances, and retirement contributions. Private sector employers benefit from incentives like employer contributions to retirement and social insurance, work permits, and nationalization awards. Training programmes for graduates and students, leadership preparation, and government scholarships support priva te sector companies in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and Higher Education. The nationalization initiative aligns with Qatar's Vision 2030, promoting quality employment and training opportunities, contributing to human development as a national progress pillar.
