Doha: The Ministry of Labour and Doha Bank have signed a cooperation document to formalise their collaboration in training and professionally qualifying the national workforce in the financial services sector. The document was signed by Shaikha Abdulrahman Al Badi, Assistant Undersecretary for National Manpower Affairs in the Private Sector at the Ministry of Labour, and Braik Ali Al Marri, Chief Retail Banking Officer at Doha Bank.
According to Qatar News Agency, the first initiative under this agreement is the launch of the Customer Service Programme. This is a six-month comprehensive training scheme designed to equip participants with core banking skills, customer service expertise, and effective communication techniques. The programme also includes practical experience at Doha Bank branches, ensuring a well-rounded learning experience that develops professional competencies aligned with the evolving demands of the financial and business sectors.
The programme is structured to culminate in employment, thereby increasing the participation rates of the national workforce in the financial services sector. The Assistant Undersecretary for National Workforce Affairs at the Ministry of Labour emphasized the importance of the cooperation agreement in qualifying and developing the skills of the national workforce to enhance its competitiveness in the sector. She noted that the financial services sector significantly contributes to the national economy, making it essential to enhance the skills and capabilities of the national workforce.
She further explained that the customer service program with Doha Bank is particularly significant as it provides employment opportunities for trainees who successfully complete the training. This will help increase national workforce participation in the financial services sector. Additionally, she highlighted the importance of leveraging qualification and training programs offered by the Ministry of Labour in collaboration with private sector institutions to enhance the skills and efficiency of job seekers.
