Ministry of Justice Licenses New Group of Real Estate Brokers

Doha: A new group of licensed Qatari real estate brokers took the oath before the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee at the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) and comprised 27 brokers, including individuals and real estate brokerage companies. They took the oath after the licensing procedures had been finalized under the provisions of Law No. 22 of 2017 regulating real estate brokerage, and after completing the mandatory training course for licensed real estate brokers.

According to Qatar News Agency, Director of the Real Estate Registration Department at MoJ and Vice Chairman of the Real Estate Brokers Affairs Committee, Amer Saeed Al Ghafri, welcomed this group of brokers and wished them success in assuming real estate brokerage activities. Al Ghafri highlighted that the new group is an important addition to the roster of licensed brokers to advance the real estate sector and augment the sector's attractiveness to investors, in addition to safeguarding the rights of clients through certified and licensed brokers who are fully aware of the legal requirements for real estate transactions.

The committee has reiterated that it is imperative for clients to deal exclusively with licensed brokers, as they play a pivotal role in preserving the rights of all parties and ensuring that transactions proceed smoothly, Al Ghafri underlined. This step is part of MoJ's steadfast efforts to regulate the brokerage profession and enforce the provisions of Law No. 22 of 2017 regulating real estate brokerage activities, in pursuit of serving the national economy, enhancing the operational mechanisms of the real estate market, and rehabilitating practitioners of this profession, namely office owners and Qatari brokers.

In addition, the Ministry underscored the importance of engaging with MoJ-licensed real estate brokers to avoid legal infractions arising from conducting unlicensed brokerage activities. The Real Estate Brokerage Department undertakes the task of receiving and sorting applications, in addition to organizing essential training courses in coordination with the Training Department at the Legal and Judicial Studies Center, to ensure that any applicant eligible to practice this profession possesses all essential professional and legal prerequisites to perform their role in this sector effectively.

Since the enforcement of the law, the Department has embarked on implementing an integrated plan for training and rehabilitation, as part of its efforts to prepare and certify brokers, in addition to operationalizing the law's implementing procedures, including visits to offices operating in this sector.
