The Ministry of Justice’s Center for Legal and Judicial Studies (CLJS) held a training program on cybersecurity, in collaboration with National Cyber Security Agency’s (NCSA) National Cyber Excellence Department.
Bringing together 50 trainees from various state agencies, the program on cyber security legal regulations aims to provide participants with the necessary cybersecurity skills to develop their capacities, and raise awareness of the dangers posed by cyberattacks. It also provides new jurists in various state agencies with the basic cybersecurity principles, ways to face cyber challenges, in addition to the importance of taking note of security governance strategies and the laws governing cyber security in the State of Qatar.
The program included practical applications that dealt with the most common cyber attacks and malware, as well as cyber court rulings, ways to protect infrastructure, and practical practice to protect data and combat cyber attacks. It also covered the national institutions and entities’ commitments to applying cybersecurity standards and legal regulation in the State of Qatar and abroad, and practical measures to combat cybersecurity attacks locally and globally.
CLJS Director Dr Saleh Ali Al Fadala said the program is part of the CLJS’ 2023 legal and judicial training plan, which includes hosting NCSA experts for training programs in line with the objectives of the preparatory and training program for all legal groups participating in the CLJS’ program, and developing their skills in all areas of law, especially the vital and emerging ones.
Head of National Cyber Excellence Department Dalal Al Aqidi said the program marks the cooperation for the second year with the CLJS by implementing cybersecurity regulations training programs for legal professionals in all state agencies.
Al Aqidi expressed NCSA’s happiness with partnership and cooperation with the CLJS to promote all professionals’ cyberculture concepts in a bid to develop their capacities to combat cyber threats, stressing the NCSA’s efforts in cooperating with agencies and ministries across Qatar to exchange experiences and spread the culture of cyber and digital security among all society segments, particularly public servants in vital sectors.
Iman Al Hamad, an information security expert, presented a comprehensive view of cybersecurity and explained ways for the fresh legal professionals across state agencies to acquire basic cybersecurity principles and combat cyber challenges. She also highlighted cybersecurity governance strategies and laws governing cybersecurity in the State of Qatar.
Running from April to early June, the program addresses several axes including types of cyber threats and risks and ways to combat them, cyber security laws in the State of Qatar, ways to protect and secure institutional and personal data, cyber risk management, and other issues.
