Ministry of Justice Engages in Arab Cybersecurity Guidance Drafting

Beirut: The Ministry of Justice participated in the committee meeting dedicated to drafting the Arab guidance project on the safe use of cyberspace, which wrapped up its activities in Beirut. This initiative is in preparation for presenting the draft guidance to the forthcoming session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Justice.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Ministry was represented by Senior Legal Expert in the Legal Affairs Department, Ali Mohammed Naqadan. The guidance project is designed to define the concept of cybersecurity and its applications within relevant institutions across Arab countries. It also aims to protect critical infrastructure dependent on information technology and increase public awareness regarding cybersecurity issues.

In drafting the project, the committee considered existing national legislation from several Arab countries and various national strategies for combating cybercrime. The committee also drew insights from international laws, including those of the European Union, alongside specialized studies from think tanks focused on cybersecurity at both regional and international levels. This approach has provided the draft with a comprehensive and integrated framework, addressing the significant issue of cybersecurity for all Arab nations.
