Ministry of Culture Wraps Up Program at Algiers International Book Fair.

Algiers: The Ministry of Culture concluded today the cultural program accompanying the Qatar Pavilion at the 27th session of the Algiers International Book Fair. This event was part of Qatar's participation as a guest of honor and featured a lecture on how translation contributes to disseminating ideas. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Hanan Al Fayyadh, Media Advisor to the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding and Professor of Arabic Literature at Qatar University, emphasized the significant role of translation in achieving and respecting cultural differences. She highlighted its importance in exchanging ideas and experiences, as well as in discovering and benefiting from various cultures. Dr. Al Fayyadh further noted that translation serves as a pivotal tool for spreading peace and constructive ideas, effectively building a bridge of communication between peoples through research and reading. In her statement to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Al Fayyadh mentioned that the field of translation in Qatar has seen substantial development in recent years, largely due to numerous Qatari initiatives. Among these, the Sheikh Hamad Award for Translation and International Understanding stands out as one of the most prestigious awards globally in terms of influence and value. Commenting on the state of translation in Arab countries, Dr. Al Fayyadh observed a tangible progression in the translation movement, which is proceeding at a steady pace. This progress is corroborated by statistics and the growing interest of international writers in having their works translated into the Arabic language.
