Algiers: The Ministry of Culture organized a lecture on Monday focusing on the trends in the Qatari novel, as part of Qatar's role as the guest of honor at the 27th Algiers International Book Fair. The event featured Qatari academic and novelist Dr. Ahmed Abdul Malik, who explored the history and development of the Qatari novel, attributing its emergence to societal openness and scientific advancement. According to Qatar News Agency, Dr. Abdul Malik highlighted the strengths and narrative aesthetics of the Qatari novel, citing works by authors such as Shu'a' and Dalal Khalifa, and discussing the acclaimed novel "The Pirate" by Abdulaziz Al Mahmoud. He noted that Qatari novels primarily focus on social issues but have recently expanded to cover themes like human relations, immigration, and perspectives on others, contributing to their growing popularity and success.
