Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Discusses Regional Escalation with GCC Secretary-General

Doha: HE Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi received a call from HE GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudawi. The conversation focused on the recent military escalation in the region and its serious implications for regional and international security and stability, as well as exploring peaceful resolutions to ongoing disputes.

According to Qatar News Agency, the Minister emphasized that the targeting of Qatari territory with Iranian ballistic missiles was a clear violation of Qatar's national sovereignty. He highlighted that such actions contradict the principles of good neighborliness and are unacceptable under any circumstances. The Minister pointed out Qatar's efforts to distance itself from regional conflicts and facilitate dialogue between Iran and the international community. However, the renewed targeting of Qatari territory undermines the trust and understanding that bilateral relations between Qatar and Iran were built upon.

The Minister also called for an immediate cessation of escalatory actions, urging a return to negotiations, prioritizing reason, and working towards a resolution that maintains regional security.

HE the GCC Secretary-General condemned the Iranian missile attack on Qatari territory, labeling it a blatant violation of Qatar's sovereignty, airspace, international law, and the UN Charter.
