Minister of State at Ministry of Foreign Affairs Engages with African Counterparts on Regional Cooperation

Doha: HE Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr. Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Saleh Al Khulaifi engaged in discussions with several African foreign ministers on the sidelines of the Second World Summit for Social Development, currently taking place in Doha.

According to Qatar News Agency, the meeting included HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad of Burkina Faso Karamoko Jean-Marie Traore; HE Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia Sara Beysolow Nyanti; HE Minister for Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Nigeriens Abroad of Niger Bakary Yaou Sangare; HE Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation and Gambians Abroad of The Gambia Sering Modou Njie; HE Minister of Health and Social Development of Mali Assa Badiallo Toure; and HE Special Representative of the African Union Commission for Mali and the Sahel Mamadou Tangara.

The discussions focused on enhancing the State of Qatar's cooperative relations with the five countries and with the African Union. Efforts were made to explore ways of supporting and strengthening these relations. The ministers also reviewed the latest developments in the Sahel region and discussed efforts to promote security and stability, while considering means of regional cooperation to aid in achieving peace and prosperity for the region's people.

The meeting underscored the necessity of coordinating regional and international efforts to support development and address the humanitarian and security challenges faced by the countries in the region.
