New york: HE Minister of Social Development and Family Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi has affirmed that the State of Qatar will remain an active partner in supporting collective efforts to achieve the vision of "Women, Peace, and Security" and will work to build a more just, sustainable, and peaceful future for all.
According to Qatar News Agency, this statement was made during Her Excellency's participation in the high-level ministerial meeting on Women, Peace, and Security, held at the United Nations Headquarters in New York on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. HE the Minister highlighted the significance of this year as it marks the 25th anniversary of the adoption of Security Council Resolution 1325 (2000), urging increased efforts to enhance women's participation in peace processes and decision-making.
Her Excellency reiterated Qatar's steadfast commitment to the Women, Peace, and Security agenda, noting Qatar's accession to the UN Secretary-General's initiative on the "Common Pledge to Enhance Women's Participation in Peace Processes." She emphasized that women's empowerment is a national priority, with Qatar making substantial progress in enhancing women's participation and leadership in various sectors.
During her address, HE Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi also highlighted the challenging humanitarian conditions facing women in conflict zones, particularly in the Gaza Strip. She stressed the necessity of intensifying international efforts to ensure accountability and the protection of women globally.
HE the Minister commended the Kingdom of Morocco for organizing the meeting, which explores the roles of women in promoting international peace and security and the challenges associated with their empowerment. She also praised the vital role of UN Women in empowering women worldwide.
