Minister of Social Development and Family Engages in Arab Women Committee’s 45th Session

Doha: HE Minister of Social Development and Family, Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi, participated in the 45th session of the Arab Women Committee, chaired by the State of Qatar. The session took place virtually on February 10-11, 2026, with the participation of ministers from various Arab countries and representatives from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States and relevant organizations.

According to Qatar News Agency, in her opening address, Her Excellency emphasized the importance of empowering Arab women, protecting their rights, and enhancing their participation to achieve sustainable development and societal stability. She highlighted the need to transition from political commitments to practical applications through integrated, evidence-based policies.

Her Excellency expressed gratitude to the State of Palestine for its leadership during the previous session, acknowledging its contributions to advancing Arab women's issues. She also shared key national indicators from Qatar, noting a 63.3 percent labor force participation rate for women in 2024, among the highest globally.

HE Al Nuaimi pointed out the decline in maternal mortality rates to four per 100,000 live births in 2023, indicating strong healthcare services. Additionally, she mentioned improved female education completion rates, which boost women's readiness for participation in the knowledge economy.

She detailed Qatar's comprehensive approach within its National Vision, focusing on investing in people, equal opportunities, and protecting vulnerable groups, especially women and girls. She stressed that while statistics are important, they must translate into sustainable policies impacting daily lives and societal stability.

The session covered various agenda items, including the adoption of the agenda and review of proposed topics, leading to decisions and recommendations reflecting Arab countries' priorities in women's empowerment.

In closing, HE the Minister reaffirmed Qatar's commitment to cooperation with Arab states, aiming for practical outcomes that enhance women's empowerment, support family stability, and contribute to community development based on justice, equity, and sustainability.
