Lisbon: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Smaikh Al Marri met with HE Minister of Labour, Solidarity and Social Security of the Republic of Portugal, Maria do Rosario Palma Ramalho, alongside senior officials from the Portuguese labour sector, to explore avenues for exchanging expertise and successful practices across various labour domains.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions focused on mechanisms to enhance cooperation between Qatar and Portugal, as well as existing partnerships and opportunities to expand collaboration in labour-related fields. The meeting underscored Qatar's early recognition of the significance of digital transformation in developing the labour market, boosting productivity, and promoting social justice.

Dr. Al Marri highlighted Qatar's substantial reforms, including legislative updates to ensure greater flexibility and fairness, and the deployment of advanced technologies in labour inspection systems, particularly in occupational safety and health, to ensure legal compliance and foster a decent and sustainable work environment. He emphasized the alignment between Qatar's experience in social protection and decent work and that of Portugal, making bilateral cooperation a pioneering step toward building a joint model that balances economic efficiency with social equity.

He also commended the Memorandum of Understanding signed between Qatar's Ministry of Labour and Portugal's Ministry of Labour, Solidarity, and Social Security.
