HE Minister of Labor Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri held Thursday a number of meetings with HE Director General of the International Labor Organization (ILO) Gilbert Houngbo, Worker Vice-Chairperson of the ILO Governing Body Catelene Passchier, and ILO’s Director of Multilateral Cooperation Department Christophe Perrin, on the sidelines of the ILO Governing Council in Geneva.
During the meetings, aspects of joint cooperation between the State of Qatar and the ILO and ways to support and develop them during the coming period were discussed, especially the initiative to develop capacities and train specialists in the labor sector in the State of Qatar.
His Excellency highlighted the most important achievements made during the past years through the technical cooperation program between the State of Qatar and the ILO, and affirmed the State of Qatar’s interest in continuing and strengthening joint cooperation, especially after the official launch of the ILO office within the United Nations House in Qatar.
His Excellency noted the effective partnership with international trade unions in modernizing and improving the work environment and exchanging experiences with regard to the successful experiences that have been implemented, pointing to the readiness of the State of Qatar to provide assistance and expertise to all countries wishing to make a change in the work environment.
