Foreign and Expatriates Minister, Fayssal Mikdad, met on Wednesday Chairman of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee of Iranian Islamic Shura Council Vahid Jalalzadeh and an accompanying delegation.
The two sides, during the meeting, stressed the importance of the mutual visits and the parliamentary diplomacy in strengthening relations among states and peoples.
Mikdad attached great importance to the role of parliaments in defending freedom and just among peoples, referring to the impacts of the unjust coercive sanctions on the livelihood of Syrian people, which are imposed by Western states whose parliaments, in contrast to the will of their peoples, got involved in causing this humanitarian suffering.
Jalalzadeh underscored the need for upgrading the bilateral parliamentary coordination to face the common challenges and dangers.
In a press briefing held after the meeting, Jalalzadeh underlined that his visit aims at discussing the latest developments surrounding the region as well as the bilateral ties, saying “We have seen a positive and constructive vision by the Syrian government and members of the People’s Assembly to develop relations and overcome obstacles”.
