Prime Minister Najib Mikati affirmed today, “the depth and strength of the relationship between Kuwait and Lebanon and the two brotherly peoples,’ adding that ‘the sisterly State of Kuwait did not hesitate, within the norms, to extend a helping hand to its brethrens in Lebanon over the decades.” Mikati’s media office issued a statement this afternoon in follow-up to Caretaker Minister of Economy and Trade, Amin Salam’s words regarding the reconstruction of wheat silos in Lebanon and his call on the sisterly State of Kuwait and His Highness the Emir to help in this regard, and the subsequent clarification he presented during his press conference today during which he explained his actual intention and meaning behind said stamement. The Prime Minister emphasized ‘Lebanon’s respect for the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of all countries, so how about if it is related to the sisterly State of Kuwait, whose decision-making mechanism is subject to constitutional, legal and institutional controls that reflect a deep political civilization rooted in Kuwaiti society?’
