Doha: The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) has unveiled a community cultural event in collaboration with Hour and Hour Program to celebrate the Qatar-Morocco 2024 Year of Culture. Scheduled for Friday, November 22, the event is titled “From Morocco to Qatar: Navigating Through Heritage” and aims to highlight the deep cultural connections between Morocco and Qatar through a diverse array of musical, art, and poetry presentations.
According to Qatar News Agency, the event will feature a variety of shows and activities, including a duet performance by Qatari musician Ahmed Abdulrahim and Moroccan artist Abdelhafid Hajjaji. Students from Al Khor Model School for Boys and the Moroccan Charlemagne International School will perform their respective national anthems. Additionally, a poetry recital will be delivered by Qatari poetess Moza bint Abdulrahman Al Missned and Moroccan poetess Amal Al Yahyaoui. The event will also include a theatrical performance on the origins of hospitality, featuring students from both Qatar
and Morocco.
The event will offer several activities, including a Moroccan and Qatari photography corner showcasing antique cameras. Art shows will feature paintings by Hassan Bougsoum and artwork by Warda Shkhat, as well as Arabic calligraphy by Ibrahim Ali and Mustafa Lashkar. Attendees can also enjoy traditional fashion shows by Qatari and Moroccan female designers, a Qatari Ardha show, a football match, and a cultural contest.
