Meteorology Warns of Thundery Rain, Strong Wind and High Sea Tonight

Doha: Weather inshore, until 6:00 am on Thursday, will be partly cloudy to cloudy at times with a chance of scattered rain, thundery at places, the Department of Meteorology said in its daily weather report, warning of thundery rain associated with strong wind and poor horizontal visibility at places.

According to Qatar News Agency, offshore conditions are expected to be cloudy with a chance of scattered rain, potentially thundery. The report highlighted warnings of thundery rain accompanied by strong wind and high sea conditions.

Inshore winds will predominantly be northeasterly to southeasterly, blowing at speeds of 10 to 20 knots, escalating up to 40 knots during thundery rain. Offshore, winds will be southeasterly, ranging from 14 to 24 knots, with gusts reaching 40 knots amidst thundery conditions.

The sea state inshore is predicted to be between 2 to 4 feet, rising to 5 feet during thundery rain, while offshore conditions will range from 4 to 8 feet, surging to 13 feet in similar weather. Visibility inshore is expected to be between 3 to 7 kilometers or drop to 2 kilometers or less during thundery rain. Offshore visibility will range from 4 to 9 kilometers, reducing to 3 kilometers or less in thundery conditions.

Tide timings and temperature forecasts for various areas include: Doha with a high of 28°C and a low of 23°C, Dukhan ranging from 20°C to 29°C, Mesaieed between 21°C and 26°C, Wakrah from 22°C to 26°C, Al Khor between 22°C and 25°C, Ruwais from 19°C to 27°C, and Abu Samra with a low of 20°C and a high of 33°C. Sunrise is expected at 05:31 LT and sunset at 17:47 LT.
