Doha: Meta, the parent company of Instagram, announced the launch of a new version of the app designed specifically for iPad devices, after more than 15 years of user requests. The company explained that starting today, iPad users can download the app through Apple’s App Store.
According to Qatar News Agency, the new version differs from the smartphone version in that it opens by default on the Reels tab for short videos, while still retaining familiar features such as displaying Stories at the top of the home page, and allowing users to switch to the Following tab to browse feeds, similar to the phone experience.
The app also takes advantage of the iPad’s larger screen, showing comments alongside videos. Meanwhile, the Direct Messages tab allows users to view both their inbox and individual conversations at the same time, similar to the desktop Messenger app.
