Media City Qatar and Qatar Leadership Centre Collaborate on Media Workshop

Doha: Media City Qatar, in collaboration with Qatar Leadership Centre (QLC), hosted the Independent Media Initiative workshop, delivered by the US-based media institutions Al Monitor and Semafor. The event aimed to nurture a dynamic media ecosystem in Qatar and equip emerging leaders with essential skills in communication, media literacy, and storytelling.

According to Qatar News Agency, the three-day workshop featured senior instructors from Al Monitor and Semafor who conducted sessions on core journalism skills. These included fact-checking, interviewing, conflict reporting, the use of AI in newsrooms, podcast development, and digital storytelling. These sessions were designed to enhance the reporting and analytical capabilities of QLC participants.

Director of Business Development at Media City Qatar, Thair Khaled Al Anani, stated that the collaboration aligns with Media City Qatar's core mandate to develop the national talent pool and empower emerging journalists in Qatar. The workshop provided participants with direct access to world-class editors, hands-on reporting techniques, and an international professional network.

Alumni Relationship Manager at QLC, Mahanna Al Naimi, highlighted that the collaboration offered QLC participants international media expertise and practical tools to broaden their perspectives. The Independent Media Initiative aligns with QLC's goal of preparing adaptable, well-informed leaders who can contribute to Qatar's future.

The workshop is part of Media City Qatar's ongoing efforts to provide training that strengthens media awareness and leadership development in Qatar. These initiatives are crucial in advancing Media City Qatar's mission to cultivate a robust and future-ready media ecosystem.
