Magnitude 6 Earthquake Strikes Off Kamchatka’s Eastern Coast


Kamchatka: A 6.0 magnitude earthquake struck off the eastern coast of Russia’s Kamchatka Peninsula.



According to Qatar News Agency, the German Research Centre for Geosciences reported that the quake’s epicenter was located at a depth of 10 kilometers.



The Kamchatka Peninsula is part of the Ring of Fire, a seismically active region known for frequent earthquakes. On July 30, the peninsula experienced a significant earthquake, measuring 8.8 magnitude, which was followed by two subsequent quakes with magnitudes of 6.0 and 5.1 the following day.



The July 30 earthquake is noted as the most powerful in the region since 1952, underscoring the volatile seismic activity in this part of the world.
