Magnitude 6.2 Earthquake Hits Southwest Taiwan

Tainan: A magnitude 6.2 earthquake struck Tainan, southwest Taiwan.

According to Qatar News Agency, the China Earthquake Networks Center said in a statement that the epicenter of the quake, which occurred at a depth of 14 kilometers, was located at 23.24 degrees north latitude and 120.51 degrees east longitude.

There were no immediate reports of casualties or material damage from the quake. Taiwan is located near the intersection of two tectonic plates at the bottom of the Pacific Ocean, which makes it prone to regular earthquakes.
