Paris: French President Emmanuel Macron affirmed on Wednesday that Europe is prepared to provide security guarantees to Ukraine as soon as a peace agreement is signed to end the war that began in 2022. Speaking ahead of a summit of European leaders forming a “coalition of the willing” in support of Kyiv, Macron said the preparatory phase is complete and will now move to political adoption.
According to Qatar News Agency, Macron emphasized that Europe was ready for a strong and lasting peace for Ukraine, while noting that the question now is whether Russia is truly sincere. For his part, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, who was received in Paris by Macron, said there are no signs that Moscow is seeking to end the war.
