Lithuania Urges NATO to Bolster Air Defenses After Drone Incursions from Belarus

Doha: Lithuania sent a formal message Tuesday to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), requesting enhanced air defense measures following the incursion of two military drones into its airspace from Belarus within less than a month.

According to Qatar News Agency, Lithuanian Foreign Minister Kestutis Budrys stated in a press briefing that Lithuania should not bear this responsibility alone, as they are defending NATO's eastern flank.

Lithuania called on NATO to demonstrate its readiness to defend every centimeter of its territory.

In response, NATO commented that it is closely monitoring the situation.

Lithuania, a member of both NATO and the European Union, shares borders with Russia and Belarus.
