Lebanese President, French Counterpart Discuss Extension of UNIFIL’s Mission

Lebanon: Lebanese President General Joseph Aoun discussed in a phone call Thursday with his French counterpart, Emmanuel Macron, the latest developments regarding the extension of the mandate of the international force operating in southern Lebanon (UNIFIL).

According to Qatar News Agency, the two presidents also discussed the plan the Lebanese Army will develop to implement the Cabinet's decision to restrict the possession of weapons to the security forces. They also reviewed the ongoing preparations for holding two international conferences, the first for the reconstruction of Lebanon and the second to support the army.

President Macron noted the implementation of the financial and economic reforms required to support these two conferences.
