Berlin: The number of asylum applications in Germany fell by about 30 percent in April compared to the same month last year.
According to Qatar News Agency, there was a significant decline in the number of first-time asylum applicants during April compared with the same month a year earlier. The Federal Office for Migration and Refugees received 6,144 protection requests, roughly one-third lower than April 2025, when it recorded 9,108 initial asylum applications.
The decline is part of a broader trend in which European Union members saw a drop of nearly 20% in asylum applications.
