Labour Minister Meets Finnish and UK Counterparts on Sidelines of Skills Summit in Istanbul

Istanbul: HE Minister of Labour Dr. Ali bin Samikh Al Marri met separately with Finland's Minister of Employment, Matti Mattila, and UK's Minister of State at the Department for Work and Pensions, Dame Diana Johnson, on the sidelines of the OECD Skills Summit 2026 currently being held in Istanbul. The meetings focused on reviewing bilateral cooperation in the labour sector and exploring ways to enhance and expand these collaborations.

According to Qatar News Agency, the discussions between Dr. Al Marri and his counterparts aimed at strengthening ties and identifying new areas for partnership in the field of employment and labour. Both meetings emphasized the importance of international cooperation in addressing global labour challenges and enhancing skills development to meet future demands.

The OECD Skills Summit 2026 serves as a platform for countries to share insights and strategies on workforce development, making it a pivotal event for international dialogue on employment policies. The participation of high-level officials, such as Dr. Al Marri, underscores the significance of global collaboration in shaping effective labour policies.
