Kuwait to Host GCC-Japan Joint Ministerial Meeting Monday

Kuwait city: The State of Kuwait is set to host the 165th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Ministerial Council meeting on Monday. The meeting will be chaired by Abdullah Al Yahya, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait and current Chairman of the Ministerial Council, and will see attendance from the foreign ministers of the GCC states.

According to Qatar News Agency, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi stated that the meeting will be succeeded by the second GCC-Japan Joint Ministerial Meeting, with Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs Iwaya Takeshi at the helm. Al Budaiwi noted that the GCC Ministerial Council is expected to discuss multiple reports concerning the follow-up on the implementation of the decisions made by the GCC Supreme Council during the 45th Summit in Kuwait. Additionally, the meeting will review memoranda and reports from the ministerial and technical committees and the General Secretariat. Discussions will also focus on dialogues and strategic relations between the GCC states, other countries, and international blocs, as well as the latest regional and international developments.

Regarding the GCC-Japan meeting, Al Budaiwi emphasized its role as part of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries' efforts to strengthen relations with global countries and organizations. The meeting aims to address several topics, including the joint action plan between the two sides, ongoing consultation, and coordination. It will also facilitate an exchange of views on regional and international issues of shared interest, supporting and enhancing security and stability in the region.
