New york: The State of Kuwait affirmed on Wednesday the steadfast commitment of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to the State of Palestine and its people, as well as their unwavering adherence to the two-state solution and the principles of international human rights law and international humanitarian law, including the principles enshrined in relevant United Nations resolutions.
According to Qatar News Agency, this was stated in a joint statement on behalf of the GCC member states, read by Diplomatic Attache of Kuwait's Permanent Mission to the United Nations, Maryam Al Mansouri, before the Third Committee of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly in New York. Al Mansouri emphasized that the Gulf countries' consistent position has been manifested through concrete measures, particularly in the context of the recent Israeli war on Gaza, where they provided extensive humanitarian support to the Palestinian people in Gaza in coordination with international organizations, including UNRWA, using all possible means, alongside political and legal support at all levels and in all international forums.
She noted that the Gulf group welcomed the outcomes of the Sharm El Sheikh Peace Summit and the commencement of the ceasefire implementation, based on the peace plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, ensuring the cessation of hostilities, the full withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces, halting all attempts at annexation and displacement, opening the door for large-scale relief operations, and initiating early recovery and reconstruction efforts.
These measures aim to create a new horizon for peace, restore hope for the Palestinian people, and guarantee their right to self-determination.
