Doha: The Kremlin praised comments on Thursday made by US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who described the Russia-Ukraine conflict as a "proxy war," emphasizing that this view aligns with the positions and perspectives of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
According to Qatar News Agency, Kremlin Spokesperson, Dmitry Peskov, stated during a press conference that they agree with that, and have repeatedly said that this conflict is, in fact, a conflict between Russia and the West. He confirmed that the remarks made by the US Secretary of State resonate with Moscow's stance that the war with Kyiv is a "proxy war." Earlier on Thursday, Rubio said: "And frankly, it's a proxy war between nuclear powers - the United States, helping Ukraine, and Russia - and it needs to come to an end."
