Doha: The Katara Cultural Village Foundation announced the organizing of the first edition of the World Arabian Horse Championship, the 'Champions Tour 2025,' which will be held on Friday and Saturday. Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al Sulaiti, Director General of the Katara Cultural Village Foundation and Chairman of the Championship's Organizing Committee, stated during a press conference that Katara will host the championship events, featuring the participation of 70 horses from 10 countries.
According to Qatar News Agency, these horses qualified through international rounds held in the Gulf, Europe, and the Americas. The total prize money is EUR 4.9 million, demonstrating the scale and international prestige of the championship. Dr. Al Sulaiti highlighted that this event marks a significant milestone in the history of the Arabian Horse Tour, particularly as it gathers elite horses that have secured top positions in international rounds. The championship is infused with cultural and historical significance related to the Arabian horse and its role in Arab history.
Bader Mohammed Al Darwish, the tournament director, emphasized that this championship represents the pinnacle of equestrian sports, featuring the highest titles. He noted the intense challenges and competition among the horses, along with the shared enthusiasm among their fans. The event in Doha underscores international confidence in Qatar's capability to host major championships for purebred Arabian horses.
