Doha: The Katara Cultural Village Foundation is set to host a vibrant cultural season this December, integrating visual arts, Arabic opera, and heritage events to coincide with the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, celebrating creativity, identity, and heritage.
According to Qatar News Agency, the seventh edition of the Qatar International Arts Festival (QIAF) will commence next Sunday, running from December 7 to 12 under the theme "Sustainability and Innovation in Art," in collaboration with Maps International. This festival will serve as a global platform, drawing over 450 artists from 70 countries. Participants will engage in interactive workshops, live performances, international art exhibitions, cultural evenings, an art conference, an art fashion show, and an art auction, concluding with an awards ceremony.
Additionally, Katara will inaugurate its Arab Opera Festival next Monday, uniting Arab artists, musicians, and opera houses for a series of artistic and training activities. The festival will kick off with an official opening ceremony honoring Egyptian composer Omar Khairat, followed by a performance by the Cairo Symphony Orchestra under the baton of Maestro Ahmed Atef. The festival will also offer workshops on opera and scenography, unveil a model of "Katara: City of Arab Opera," and launch an online platform for Arab opera houses. It will host the second meeting of supervisors of Arab opera houses, concluding with a joint performance by the Qatar Philharmonic Orchestra and the Cairo Symphony Orchestra.
Meanwhile, the 15th Katara Traditional Dhow Festival continues to draw visitors with its maritime atmosphere celebrating Qatari heritage, featuring traditional crafts, woodwork, and maritime artifacts. A popular highlight is the traditional food corner with offerings from local Qatari families, attracting many locals and Arab visitors.
In alignment with the festive atmosphere as Qatar hosts the FIFA Arab Cup Qatar 2025, Katara has organized a diverse array of public events providing a comprehensive cultural and entertainment experience for visitors. These include daily artistic performances, children's entertainment, open-air art exhibitions, and musical performances welcoming fans from across the Arab world.
