Doha: Czech player Karolina Muchova claimed the 24th edition of the Qatar TotalEnergies Open, a WTA 1000 event organized by the Qatar Tennis Federation, which concluded on Saturday at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex in Doha.
According to Qatar News Agency, the 29-year-old world No. 19 secured a straight-sets victory over Canada's Victoria Mboko, 19, who is ranked No. 13 globally and was seeded 10th in the tournament. Muchova won the final 6'4, 7'5.
HE President of the Qatar Tennis, Squash, Padel and Badminton Federation Nasser bin Ghanem Al Khelaifi, accompanied by Tournament Director Saad Al Mohannadi, and President of FIFA Gianni Infantino, presented the champion with the Golden Falcon trophy and awarded the Canadian player the runner-up trophy.
The triumph marks Muchova's first title in Doha, achieved in her fourth appearance at the tournament, and the second title of her professional career, following her 2019 victory at the South Korean Open. She was also runner-up at the French Open (Roland Garros) in 2023.
