Jordan’s PM Condemns Israel’s Prolonged Occupation of Lebanese Territories

Doha: Jordan's Prime Minister, Jafar Hassan, held talks in Amman on Tuesday with his visiting Lebanese counterpart, Nawaf Salam, and affirmed that Jordan stands with Lebanon in supporting its sovereignty, security, and stability and enabling its institutions to exercise their authority and sovereignty over all Lebanese territories, while cooperating with Lebanon's state institutions.

According to Qatar News Agency, the persistent Israeli occupation of the Lebanese territories is condemned. The ceasefire agreement must be entirely accomplished, followed by the cessation of the ongoing assaults on the Lebanese territories, Hassan said.

He stressed that Israel singlehandedly bears the full human and legal responsibility for the crumbling relief system in Gaza, adding that every single day there is a travail in Gaza, where starvation, killing, and massacres are committed daily.

All crossings must be opened to deliver the aid required to rescue the Palestinian people and the children of Gaza. The reality not only reflects the illusion of the Greater Israel, but the ostracized, isolated, and embattled Israel due to the brutal and extremist policies it pursues, Hassan added.

Hassan further highlighted that there are two plans that are essentially required: the first one is based on maintaining the sovereignty and stability of nations, as well as enabling the peoples to work for prosperity. The second one, he says, seeks to perpetuate and deepen conflicts and wars that entrench hatred.

For his part, Salam said that Jordan's voice is being echoed worldwide, and Lebanon needs this role in this current phase it is going through.

Israel is from one isolation to another on the global stage, amid the measures it takes in the occupied West Bank, as well as massacres in the Gaza enclave, Salam underlined.

Both sides stressed that it is critically important to marshal all war-cessation efforts in Gaza, along with the assaults in the West Bank and the menacing escalation in the region.
