Amman: King Abdullah II of Jordan has reiterated the need to reach an immediate ceasefire in the Gaza Strip and ensure the flow of relief aid by all possible means. He also affirmed Jordan's rejection of the Israeli plan to consolidate the occupation of Gaza City and expand military control over it.
According to Qatar News Agency, during his meeting Monday with a delegation from the US Congress, the king emphasized Jordan's categorical rejection of Israeli statements regarding the alleged "Greater Israel" vision and the occupation's unilateral measures in the West Bank, including the settlement plan in the E1 area, which constitutes a violation of international law and an assault on the Palestinian people's right to establish an independent state.
The meeting also discussed the most prominent developments in the region and the role of the US in achieving stability in the region.
