Doha: HE Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan to the State of Qatar, Zaid Mufleh Al Lawzi, emphasized the importance of HH the Amir Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani’s visit to Amman, highlighting the deep historical and fraternal ties between Jordan and Qatar. The visit is seen as a pivotal moment for strengthening bilateral cooperation amid a sensitive regional climate.
According to Qatar News Agency, His Excellency remarked that the visit underscores the commitment of both nations’ leaderships to maintain coordination and dialogue on pressing regional and international issues, with the Palestinian cause being a central focus. The visit signifies a shared commitment to the two-state solution and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on the June 4, 1967 borders.
HE Al Lawzi noted that discussions during the visit will cover bilateral relations and explore avenues for enhancing cooperation in various fields. Economic ties between the two countries are robust, with Qatari investments in Jordan exceeding $1 billion in sectors like banking, real estate, and renewable energy.
Regarding recent tensions, HE Ambassador Al Lawzi highlighted the swift support from HM King Abdullah II of Jordan following the Israeli aggression on Doha on Sep. 9. The King’s immediate communication with HH the Amir showcased Jordan’s solidarity with Qatar. The subsequent visit of HRH Crown Prince Al Hussein bin Abdullah II to Qatar further cemented this support.
The Ambassador pointed to recent mutual visits by officials from both countries and the signing of bilateral agreements as evidence of growing cooperation. He also emphasized joint efforts to address the Palestinian issue and humanitarian aid initiatives in the Gaza Strip, reflecting the coordinated stance of Jordan and Qatar against unilateral actions by the Israeli occupation.
