Cairo, King Abdullah II of Jordan underscored the importance of immediate cessation of war on the Gaza Strip and offering protection for civilians. He stressed that he categorically rejects forced displacement of Palestinians or causing their eviction, affirming that this act is a war crime based on international law and a redline for all nations.
Speaking before the Cairo Peace Summit held in Egypt on Saturday, King Abdullah II of Jordan called for the significance of unfettered access to humanitarian assistance, fuel, food, and medicines to the Gaza Strip constantly and without further disruption, calling for the significance of adopting a unified position that condemns targeting the civilians by the two sides, in commensurate with the shared values and international law.
The violent bombing currently ongoing in Gaza is a fierce and unacceptable campaign at multiple levels, collective punishment against a trapped helpless population, which is a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and a war crime, he said.
