Doha: Jordanian Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi met with Palestinian Vice President Hussein Al Sheikh, who is visiting Amman, to discuss efforts to consolidate the ceasefire in Gaza and halt the Israeli escalation in the occupied West Bank.

According to Qatar News Agency, during their meeting, Safadi and Al Sheikh emphasized the priority of adhering to all provisions of the ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip and moving towards the second phase of the agreement according to US President Donald Trump's plan.

They also stressed the importance of linking efforts to achieve stability with a clear political horizon for resolving the Palestinian issue.

Both sides emphasized the need for concerted regional and international efforts to stop the illegal Israeli occupation measures that are pushing towards an explosion of the situation and undermining the chances of achieving a just and lasting peace based on the two-state solution.
