Jerusalem Governorate Warns of Israeli Occupation Plans Aimed at Annexation and Judaization

Jerusalem: The Jerusalem Governorate condemned the Israeli occupation authorities' continued efforts to advance approval of the so-called "Brown Line" light rail project in occupied Jerusalem, describing it as a dangerous settler-colonial scheme and a direct extension of systematic Judaization policies aimed at asserting full Israeli control over the occupied city.

According to Qatar News Agency, in a statement issued on Sunday, the Governorate emphasized that the plan seeks to forcibly annex the occupied city into the Israeli administrative and planning framework, in clear violation of international law and United Nations Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.

The statement warned that the project is not about improving infrastructure or delivering civil services, but rather constitutes a blatant and systematic assault on Palestinian land and the historical Palestinian presence in Jerusalem. It is a unilateral attempt to impose new facts on the ground by force, outside any negotiated process, aimed at entrenching the Israeli entity's colonial interests - particularly in Jerusalem.

The Governorate further stressed that this move comes as part of the Israeli occupation broader effort to resolve final status issues, chief among them the status of Jerusalem, through field implementation and planning tools. Such actions systematically undermine any possibility for a just and comprehensive peace, effectively derail the two-state solution, and prevent the establishment of a sovereign, geographically contiguous Palestinian state along the June 4, 1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
