Israeli Occupation Army Targets Heavy Equipment for Humanitarian Relief in Gaza

Gaza: Director of Supply and Equipment at the Palestinian Civil Defense in Gaza, Mohammed Al Mughair, reported that the Israeli occupation army destroyed heavy equipment intended for humanitarian relief during several violent raids. These raids specifically targeted bulldozers and other machinery used for rescue operations and recovering victims from the rubble of destroyed buildings in the Gaza Strip.

According to Qatar News Agency, Al Mughair stated that nine large bulldozers were destroyed after being targeted inside the Jabalia Municipality headquarters in the northern Gaza Strip. These bulldozers were recently brought in two batches during a ceasefire to aid in rescue missions. Civil defense crews relied on this equipment to retrieve bodies and remains of martyrs, clear roads, and improve response times in the southern Gaza Strip.

Al Mughair highlighted that the Israeli occupation's actions are a clear violation of the 1977 Additional Annex on Humanitarian Intervention, which mandates the protection of civil defense equipment and vehicles. The attack on these critical assets severely impacts rescue operations and humanitarian efforts in the region.

The Palestinian Center for Missing and Forcibly Disappeared Persons condemned the destruction of the heavy equipment, emphasizing its importance for rescue operations and recovering victims. The center criticized the deliberate targeting, pointing out that it occurred despite repeated appeals by local and international organizations, including a recent appeal to the international community and United Nations organizations to facilitate the entry of such equipment into the besieged Gaza Strip. These efforts aim to aid in retrieving the bodies of missing children trapped under the rubble.
