Salfit: Israeli colonists have set fire to a mosque in the occupied West Bank, spraying racist anti-Arab and anti-Muslim graffiti in what Palestinians say marks an escalation of aggression. The attack targeted the Hajja Hamida Mosque in northwest Salfit Governorate, an area already fraught with tensions. Following the incident, Israeli occupation police raided the site.
According to Qatar News Agency, the Palestinian Ministry of Awqaf and Religious Affairs condemned the attack as evidence of Israeli racist incitement. They view it as an assault targeting both Islamic and Christian holy sites in Palestine. The ministry emphasized that such acts constitute a blatant assault on Muslims and their sentiments.
The ministry further warned that no places of worship remain safe amid the ongoing aggression and crimes perpetrated by the occupation and its settler militias. They described the incident as a provocative attack that adds to the growing list of Israeli crimes against holy sites.
For its part, the Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs criticized the attack as a violation of the sanctity of places of worship. They see it as an expression of deep-rooted racism guiding settlers' behavior under the protection of the occupation government. The ministry called on the international community, including states and organizations like the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and UNESCO, to take immediate measures to protect holy sites in the occupied State of Palestine.
Meanwhile, the Palestinian National Council denounced the crime as further proof of the escalating, organized terrorism of settlers, carried out under the patronage of the occupation government.
