Israeli Airstrikes Escalate Tensions in Southern Lebanon

Nabatieh: The Israeli occupation army continued its attacks on southern Lebanon on Saturday, violating the ceasefire agreement that was initially set in place on April 16. This ceasefire, which was extended on April 24 for an additional three weeks, appears to be under threat as hostilities persist.

According to Qatar News Agency, an Israeli drone conducted three airstrikes targeting a man and his daughter in the city of Nabatieh, resulting in the father's death and injuring his daughter. Further airstrikes were reported in Nabatieh Al Fawqa and around the Kfar Tebnit roundabout, leading to several casualties. An additional attack targeted a tire repair shop located on the main road between Shahabiya and Kfar Dounine.

The towns of Arnoun, Kfar Tebnit, and Nabatieh experienced intermittent artillery shelling, while Israeli warplanes launched an airstrike shortly after midnight in Harouf, completely destroying a house. In a coordinated effort, the Israeli occupation army fired artillery shells towards Majdal Zoun, Al Mansouri, and Beit Siyad, resuming shelling alongside machine-gun fire in the Bayada area, where clashes with Lebanese forces were reported.

Overnight, Israeli forces deployed illumination flares over villages in the western and central sectors, causing significant damage to several houses in Jubbana neighborhood of Bint Jbeil. At dawn, artillery shelling targeted the outskirts of Ghandouriyeh with multiple shells impacting the area.

In a separate development, the Israeli occupation army issued urgent warnings to residents of several Lebanese towns and villages, including Tayr Debba, Abbasiyeh, Burj Rahal, Maaroub, Barish, Arzoun, Jannata (Tyre), Zrariyeh, and Ain Baal, urging them to take precautions amid the ongoing conflict.
